Gold Rush Days

Gold Rush is a festival we have in Dahlonega every third weekend in October. It is a celebration of Dahlonega's 1828 discovery of Gold. The whole town goes all out. Over 300 craft tents and vendors set up on the streets and an estimated 200,000 people travel here for this every year. The was the 54th year. It always makes me so thankful to be apart of such a small town. Even with all of the tourists you cant go 2 feet with out running in to someone you know. I took tons of pics so enjoy!
Historic marker for the square.
Lumpkin County Courthouse built in 1836. Now it is used as the Gold Museum.
For once my workaholic husband had the day off to spend with me!
Tiffany (one of my besties and co-worker) and her husband Brad at the firefighter booth.
Love that girl!
Brad volunteering at the firefighter booth.
The chamber of commerce. Where all the action is on Gold Rush weekend. Pig call contest, arm wrestling, clogging, singing, Queen and King of Gold Rush crowning and so much more.
My husband. Always stuffing his mouth with food.
Parker and Chelsea (another bestie)
The Gold Rush King and Queen riding in the parade.
Sons of  Confederate Veterans
My brother Zack (first one with both feet on the yellow line) marching with the JROTC in the parade.
Little Miss Gold Rush.

Tiffany and Brad look so cute!! I always hated the Gold Rush crowds and traffic. I'd ride through the parade and then get out of dodge lol!

We had so much fun! Tiff and I were so mad that they didn't have sweet potato biscuits this year. We got there at 9:00 so we could get one! She definitely peaced out right before the parade. Couldn't take the crowds eiter. Must be a sister thing.

Thanks for reading. We went to Dahlonega last year and really enjoyed ourselves. We might stop there again. I couldn't get over how beautiful it was--just like a movie set! I wanted to reply by email to your comment but it replies Can't wait to start reading your blog!
